As a sophomore, I went to the career fair with low expectations. I did not expect many opportunities since I was still an underclassman. Recently, one of the companies I interacted with at the career fair got back to me. They scheduled a written test which I took last weekend. The test, which was a programming aptitude test, was very similar to the SATs, though it seemed far more outdated. I suppose the company wanted to see a potential to learn programming rather than actual programming skills. Yesterday I got an email from one of the company members saying that they wanted to schedule a formal interview. I didn’t really expect much so this surprised me. The reason why I have a chance with this company is probably because they are small and new. This makes me wish I had sent my resumes to a lot of the smaller companies at the career fair.
