The weather at Lehigh University is usually moderate, however, there is the occasional rainfall especially around this time of the year. Rain makes the roads and walkways quite slippery. Especially since our school is very hilly, it is a good idea to be careful when getting around campus during a rainfall. Earlier today, I saw a student who appeared to be running late to his class. While he ran, his foot hit an exceptionally slippery area, and he slipped quite ungracefully. Trying to run while the ground is slippery does not sound like the best idea.
Last year, we had an abnormally snowy winter. It was so bad that we had classes cancelled numerous times. Travelling during those conditions was a huge challenge. I have read some articles that this winter is going to be pretty bad as well, though not as bad as last year.
During slippery conditions, I would recommend allotting an extra five to ten minutes for your travels. With the extra time, you can carefully get to your location without endangering yourself. I can count numerous times where I have slipped on a slope trying to get to class in a hurry. It is always better to take precautions.
